APTEC EXPANDS ITS REGIONAL ROLE IN MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA AS THE LEADING MOBILE AND WIRELESS DISTRIBUTOR

Regional Distributor Forms Joint Venture with Leading Global distributor, Brightstar to Create New Organization, “Brightec”

Aptec Holdings, the leading IT distributor in the Middle East and Africa announced today its further expansion in the region through the formation of a joint venture with Brightstar Corp., the leading wireless distribution and supply chain Solutions Company worldwide.

The joint venture company, to be named “Brightec,” provides Aptec and Brightstar with a strong regional infrastructure to support high growth markets in the Middle East and North Africa. Brightec also owns and operators eight retail outlets in the region. The joint venture headquarters and Brightec’s Middle East and Africa (ME/A) regional headquarters will be in Dubai, U.A.E.

Brightec promises to become the largest mobile telephony and wireless distributor in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey. The new company will immediately take ownership of Aptec Mobile in the UAE with its eight retail outlets, distribution, mobile phone service centers and web sales operations. Aptec Mobile is a company formed by Aptec to accommodate its mobile phone business.

Brightec will leverage Aptec’s presence and expertise in the region to launch operations in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Turkey, Egypt and Lebanon before the end of 2006. Plans are also in place to enter large markets of mobile telephony in the region.

The geographic regions that make up the Middle East & Africa are poised for explosive growth in the wireless industry. According to industry reports, approximately 80 million wireless devices were sold in 2005 in the region. By 2010, this number is expected to nearly triple to 218 million, making it the largest wireless market in the world.

Brightec vision for growth includes identifying under-served, high growth potential markets, establishing a local presence and bringing Brightstar’s expertise in supply chain services to operators and retailers in these markets, dramatically improving their operational results.

Brightec’s value to the markets in the region includes increasing their access to wireless devices through Brightstar’s global relationship with leading manufacturers and its vast distribution network which increases speed to market and reduces overall product costs. Brightstar is the largest wireless distribution and supply chain Solutions Company in the world, delivering devices and solutions to customers on six continents and operates 36 facilities in 30 countries.

Brightec will be offering an end-to-end supply chain services to wireless manufacturers, operators and retailers and is organized into two key divisions: devices & solutions. Brightec’s devices division plans to enter into agreements with key wireless manufacturers for the region. Brightec’s solutions division will leverage Brightstar’s global expertise to offer a range of services including supply chain services & fulfillment, manufacturing solutions, airtime solutions as well as broadband and VoIP solutions.

Combined, the joint venture organizations posted in excess of $2.6 billion USD in 2005.
